Project Highlights
Victoria Regional Rail Link in Melbourne
RPS is supporting the Victoria Regional Rail Link, a 47.5 km railway line improving public transport services to Melbourne rsquo;s growing western fringe. It is the largest transport infrastructure project being undertaken in Australia and has won the lsquo;IPA Infrastructure Project of the Year rsquo; award.
Cornwall Energy Recovery Centre
RPS is the lead designer on the pound;117m Cornwall Energy Recovery Centre, providing affordable energy from the controlled burning of the county rsquo;s non-recycled residual waste. The 20MW plant will be able to power 21,000 homes from 240,000tpa of domestic waste diverted from landfill.
Port Arthur oil refinery in Texas
RPS served as the primary air quality consultant to secure authorisation for a 325,000 barrel-per-day expansion of the Port Arthur refinery in Texas. This is the largest refinery construction project in the United States since the 1970 rsquo;s.
Stanley Dock, Liverpool
Redevelopment of Liverpool rsquo;s conservation area Stanley Dock, part of the UNESCO world heritage site that makes up most of the Liverpool Docklands. The redevelopment includes a pound;30m sensitive conversion of a Grade 11 listed warehouse to provide a 4-star 150 suite hotel with dockside dining terrace.
The Ichthys LNG pipeline to Darwin
RPS is advising on the Ichthys LNG pipeline to Darwin which will be the longest in the southern hemisphere.
Lower Clydach Gorge in south Wales
RPS has been providing environmental support since May 2011 in relation to the dualling of the A465 Heads of the Valley Road in south Wales.
The Corrib Gas Pipeline in Co. Mayo
RPS is recognised as the leading energy and environmental consultancy in Ireland, and has worked on a number of high profile oil amp; gas projects such as Shell rsquo;s Corrib Gas Pipeline in Co. Mayo.
Drilling for shale in Alberta
Drilling on the Bakken shale in Alberta, Canada where RPS is providing integrated reserves and resource assessments.
Oil amp; Gas exploration in the North Sea
Since the early days of North Sea exploration RPS has worked with UKCS oil and gas operators providing a broad range of consultancy services to their offshore exploration, construction, inspection, maintenance and production operations. We operate on approximately 300 projects for over 80 clients in the region.
The London Array offshore windfarm
RPS acted as lead consultant for the London Array, one of the largest offshore windfarm projects in the world. Its 175 turbines are capable of generating enough energy to power nearly half a million homes and reduce CO2 emissions by over 900,000 tonnes a year.
Mizen Head Bridge in County Cork
RPS has successfully delivered a new bridge at Mizen Head, Cork, a faithful replica of the 1909 Mizen Head Bridge. The replacement bridge was an overall winner of the Engineers Ireland Excellence awards.
Drax Power Station in Selby
RPS is lead designer, architect and civil/structural engineer for the eco-store and biomass fuel transfer element of Project Phoenix, a programme to convert coal to renewable, cost effective biomass material at Drax Power Station. The project is a Major Civil Engineering Project finalist in the British Construction Industry Awards to be announced in October 2016.
Mersey Gateway Bridge in Merseyside
RPS is the Techical Advisor for the Mersey Gateway Bridge, a pound;600m project for the design, build, finance, operation and maintenance of a new tolled bridge over the River Mersey. Proposed as an economic driver to the Mersey Port regeneration, RPS is also advising on new tolling facilities for the existing Silver Jubilee Bridge.
Gold Coast Aquatic Centre in Australia
RPS landscape architects are currently working on the landscape design for the Gold Coast Aquatic Centre which will hold swimming, diving and other aquatic sporting events at the 2018 Commonwealth Games.
London City Airport
RPS won Best Environmental Initiative Award from the Airport Operators Association for its involvement at London City Airport.
Petrochemical plant in The Netherlands
RPS rsquo; laboratory services were called upon following a major explosion at the Chemie Moerdijk petrochemical plant in the Netherlands. The fast response by RPS and same day analysis of the air and surface samples enabled the client to make fundamental decisions in securing their site.
LiDAR surveying in southeastern Australia.
RPS is undertaking Australia rsquo;s largest ever LiDAR survey and aerial photography project at the Murray-Darling Basin for Geoscience Australia. Accurate terrain mapping is crucial for managing climate change in the area and LiDAR is essential to ensure consistent high quality data capture across the 22 sq km river basin.
The Channel Tunnel, Folkestone, Kent
We are providing occupational health services to Eurotunnel rsquo;s UK-based staff at Folkestone. RPS is also providing occupational health services across Siemens Plc rsquo;s UK businesses including its manufacturing and rail sites and wind farms.
The National Museum in Oslo
RPS has been appointed by the Norwegian government to project manage the construction of the New National Museum in Oslo. It will be one of Norway rsquo;s most culturally significant public buildings with an area of 54,600 sqm and a completion date in 2019.

FDPSO project near the Republic of Congo
RPS is part of a team responsible for coordinating all aspects of Health, Safety, Security and Environment (HSSE) associated with the world rsquo;s first FDPSO (Floating, Drilling, Production, Storage and Off-loading) project.
Protection of marine mammals in New Zealand
RPS has developed a new MMO/PAO assessment programme, to meet more stringent requirements set out in 2012 for the New Zealand Conservation Authority to protect marine mammals from acoustic disturbance during seismic survey operations. The programme was conducted in winter 2013 to great achievement and acclaim for its exceptionally high standards of testing.
Enbridge Northern Gateway in Canada
As leader of the Built and Natural Environment business in Canada, Paul Anderson has provided expert witness testimony to Canada rsquo;s National Energy board. The $6.5 billion Enbridge Northern Gateway project will provide twin pipelines running 1,177km from Northern Alberta to Kitimat, the port in British Colombia providing access to shipping across the Pacific.
lsquo;REnescience Northwich rsquo; innovative waste treatment
RPS has designed and secured unanimous planning consent for DONG Energy rsquo;s innovative waste-to-energy facility near Northwich in Cheshire. This first-of-its-kind plant will use enzyme bioreactors and anaerobic digestion to recover renewable energy and recyclables from up to 144,000 tpa of mixed waste. RPS has provided design, planning, EIA and environmental permit services to secure consent and is working with DONG through construction and commissioning.
