Album Update Imminent! Send Submissions Soon!
Submitted by Nova Alamak on Thu, 08/13/2015 - 01:31
This weekend I'll be going through the current backlog of requests for new music to have on the stream. No suggestion, no matter how obscure or obvious, should be kept away from me! I, Nova Alamak, pledge my continued dedication to this divine mission. Ceremoniously drag your cursor to the left. Linger on the Submissions link for a moment, imagining the first 9 or 10 suggestions you have. Now, when you are ready, heal and use any mana recovery items you might have, and click. Make sure you fill out every section! I'm more likely to find and implement the best versions of the game soundtracks you want played on our airwaves (lol) if you actually give me all the information. So do that! For me! And if not for me, do it for Siofra. She needs you in this difficult time.
But yes, we're always taking the suggestions and keeping a backlog, so now is a critical time to get yours in! I'm doing it starting this Friday and will be able to mess around with extras until Monday morning. The gates are now EXTRA OPEN! 'Cause you know, they've been open this whole time but I had to make it seem more enticing.
Remembering Satoru Iwata
Submitted by Nova Alamak on Thu, 07/16/2015 - 03:35
A transcript of my thoughts on Iwata's passing during our most recent episode of The Windmill Hut...Satoru Iwata's dream was always in another world. This wasn't a place you could just walk to or find on a map, and I believe he liked it that way. The easiest way in was to be a child and have a Game Boy in your hand. My very first game was Kirby's Dream Land, an imaginative, if brief experience that didn't make complete sense to me until I was much older. The title itself suggests what Iwata and those he surrounded himself with were after鈥擠ream Land. The place where dreams and reality collide without boundaries, explanations, or even justifications. As my listeners on The Windmill Hut attested, he raised some of us without us knowing. Iwata's vision was so clear in his mind that it lost nothing when projected to a monochrome screen.Later in life, we watched our old friend grow tall and powerful, and to some of us, maybe distant. There was always a promise in his eyes; an offer, if you will, to accept his words and see for yourself what the future has for you. As if to say, 鈥淚 promise you, you will enjoy this!鈥 he always would say aloud, 鈥淚 hope you will enjoy it.鈥 Well, I did, old friend. And while you aren't here to hear me say so, you were right all along! I just had to keep going when life got hard. I had to believe there were good reasons to chin up. Iwata never gave up, so neither will we. We won't put these games down, and if we know what's good for us, we'll never doubt Nintendo's offerings before they're in our hands. Iwata believed his actions could speak much louder than his words, so let us do as he did! Play on, Spinning Stream! Play on, Nintendo fans! Play on, video gamers. If you must cry, then cry, but only so long as you smile tomorrow when you power on. For Satoru Iwata, from everyone at The Spinning Stream: Nintendo Music Radio: of our smiles and tears.

New Podcast Name: Stream Team!
Submitted by Nova Alamak on Thu, 06/25/2015 - 01:54
We're renaming our discussion show, formerly "Hey, Listen!" due to conflict with the names of several other podcasts out there on the net. Rather than try to be the most popular, "Hey, Listen!" we're now the unstoppable STREAM TEAM! We're working on a new logo and everything so hang tight. I just thought I'd mention ahead of time since the first episode is already up. This one's our 2015 E3 coverage and it's nearly four hours long! But thanks to our crew, it turned out quite well and we were very thorough in bringing you all that needed to be said about everything Nintendo had to show at their World Championships, Digital Event, and Treehouse Live. If you haven't already done so, check the actual footage on their YouTube channel so you know what's up! As for our episode about all this, go check the Podcast section or the Archive--it's already up!
Other than that, I want to extend a belated thank-you to everyone who participated in The Windmill Hut's Season Survey. We have a lot of great things lined up for this year's shows as a direct result of listener input. You can expect another survey next year as well, granted the concept remains popular (I suspect it will).
The Album Update I've been promising on live shows will come sometime in July I suspect. Keep using the Submissions page if you have ideas. My running list is very long now, but none of it should be hard to acquire. Sorry for all the silence up here; I've been very busy with multiple projects.
