raquo; WorldSBK bosses confirm death of European Superstock 1000
Sep 27, 2018 - 12:20 PM - by Admin
WorldSBK bosses have this morning confirmed the European Superstock 1000 championship will cease to exist at the end of 2018.
After 19 seasons of successful racing in around Europe, with 17 different champions and six different manufacturers taking titles in the class, the decision to not continue the series has been made following the evolution of technical regulations in WorldSBK over recent years.
#8220;We want to thank all our teams and riders for their commitment and effort throughout the seasons. STK1000 has provided some sensational racing action over the years, but now are looking ahead to the future of the MOTUL FIM Superbike World Championship. We now want to focus on the promotion and expansion of our three main categories, #8221; said series boss... [Read More]

raquo; Good mechanic for my poor Sv
Sep 26, 2018 - 8:57 PM - by Born2Survive
OK, I am looking for a good mechanic that doesn't charge a fortune and sadly a van cost to Chopper will cost to much so anyone know someone Dublin area.?
Quick ish explanation..... Dropped bike on its side this evening. Stopped at lights, went to put foot down and somehow bottom of leggings got caught in peg and quickly bike went but thanks to crash mushroom only damage is loose/broken section that holds lever on bar. Because clutch lever is like this and needs to be pulled in for bike to start well it's a nonstarter #128580;
So I need someone to sort it for me but also want the shitty Chinese levers off bike.
Any help be great as its my only transport apart from bus that takes nearly 2 hours travelling each way.

raquo; What mileage is quot;too much quot;?
Sep 26, 2018 - 5:43 PM - by Jaskin71
Hi all,
hunting second hand bike and would like to ask you for some advice.
As title said. What mileage is still ok and what is too much please?
There is Yamaha Ventura XVZ 1300 cc for sale on DD but its has 81k kms on the clock what is aprox 50,5k miles.
Is this too much for a cruiser?
I know it all depends how the driver look after the baby but still....
Thanks Jiri

raquo; My new bike - Kawasaki ZX6R 636
Sep 26, 2018 - 2:12 PM - by GONKO
So after all the back and forth and thinking on a next bike after my SV650s, I came across this beautiful ZX6R. I am over the moon with it. Bike is a little bit tall but my god, it is beautiful. I find myself sitting at the back door looking out at it, just admiring how beautiful it looks (granted, I am a sport bike style fan).
It is so much smoother than the SV and is great to ride with the slipper clutch.
Only bad points are a weakish wear brake but easily fixed.
Pics below.

raquo; Noobs guide to 90s and Noughties Jap Sportbikes?
Sep 25, 2018 - 5:16 PM - by -alan-
Sold the heavyweight. Have cash in hand and think I'd really like to get my hands on a decent Jap sports bike. Have a budget of about 5-6k I can spend, but more than happy to spend a lot less if I don't have to.
Had a quick look at the Blades and R1s out there going back to c.1995 ish. I never really followed the developments in them over the years, and as a consequence have no idea whether there's ones which are particularly good or whether there's some best avoided.
Anybody give me a steer on the good the bad and the ugly across the range of models in them (and the GSXRs) ?

Sep 23, 2018 - 10:09 PM - by GONKO
So picked up a beautiful 2005 ZX6R 636, my second ever bike and beautiful in the Kwaker green too.
Tonight I move the bike and when getting off my boot clips the rear fairing leaving paint scuffs. Fucking devastated.
The bike is a lot taller than my sv causing me to slip a little and the result damaged rear fairing and cowl area.
Touch up paint ordered. Only have the thing a day and already wrecking it.
I love the thing, so smooth and sexy looking. But it is quite tall for a short arse like me.

raquo; Best Battery Tender/Trickle Charger?
Sep 21, 2018 - 4:29 PM - by ridelikeaturtle
What's the best - and by quot;best quot;, I mean economical too, I don't need it to make me coffee every morning - battery tender / trickle charger?
I've got a quot;seasonal quot; bike in a holiday home, so this is necessary to keep from constantly having to recharge the battery.
Are the Halford's ones any good? I've had years of use out of their standard battery charger.
Also, I'd need to buy this locally, and probably Monday is the only day I could do it - fuck, I just realized that important part of the equation! That might limit me to Halford's.
Unless someone's got one they're not using and they could meet me on Sunday afternoon in Dublin?

raquo; Thinking of buying a Cycleshell
Sep 20, 2018 - 5:05 PM - by BooBiQ
Hi guys,
I'm considering investing in a Cycleshell to cover the bike and any future bike I
decide to upgrade to. Have any of you used one before or something similar?
I have no access to a garage so currently the bike sits out front on the driveway, with a generic cover pulled over it. Does the job but its less then ideal.
What drew me to the Cycleshell was the addition of the base. There seems to be a lot of tent-like covers out there but none that I've seen have the base.
Price is a bit steep @ $425 (Tourer version) so is there some thing else I should be looking at?
Thanks for reading

quot;Bicyclist Denise Mueller-Korenek with pace car driver Shea Holbrook has shattered the overall paced Bicycle land speed record on September 16, 2018 at the Bonneville Salt Flats during the World of Speed event. Saw a CBR 400 with the black and silver paintjob sitting up against the barriers just off the exit ramp from junction 14 northbound. Just taught I'd put it out there in case someone's has gone missing. Looked in fairly original nick.
Hope whoever owns it gets it sorted one way or another.

Sep 19, 2018 - 10:32 AM - by ascalon
So, took the bike this morning and had to pop into the bank before work, from D15 to D18.
The wind wasn't too bad on the way, but was still cautious about parking.
Parked in what looked like a fairly sheltered spot, only to be alerted to the sound of crunching plastic as I walked away!
Down on its side, and petrol pissing out through the tank overflow!
A very kind passerby gave me a hand get it up and out of the worst of the gusts.
Fortunately, scraped bar ends and bust mirror is all that's damaged.
I'll take that!
Stay safe chaps, seems at its worst here at the moment. THere's stuff going sideways past a second floor window.

raquo; Helmet help
Sep 18, 2018 - 7:48 PM - by FlatOut
I have a mint Schuberth S1 Pro , which i love to bits , but it needs a refurbishment , the linings and padding could do with replacing.
I can get all the bits, except the cheek pads.
I've searched everywhere, all the ebays, amazons etc.
I even got on to the Schuberth factory, with no luck.
Does anyone know of someone who can make a new set of cheekpads ?
I imagine it would need the correct type/density of foam and then be shaped to fit the lining that covers it.
Any ideas ?

raquo; Tyres - some questions
Sep 18, 2018 - 2:07 PM - by Dub Duke

1. What tyre would suit some wet, not too wear out after 1000 miles, but decent grip (Michelin Road Pilots seem to get a couple of nods on the internet). Not big mileage, but can be a fair bit when weather is dry for a while.
2. Where would you go for supply and fitment? Greater Dublin area, (north county ideal)
3. Does anyone on here order tyres and then get someone to fit them? If so, where do you order from and where fits supplied-tyres?
(I'd rather ride in somewhere and leave 40 minutes later with new rubber if it doesn't cripple me bank account).
Also (4) - do ye ever replace rear and front at... [Read More]

raquo; Where to buy a work bench
Sep 18, 2018 - 1:31 PM - by strontium_dog
Hi,
just wondering if anyone knows where to get hold of a decent work bench? I'm just after something that would be a good height to do general work and be able to take a decent vice and also stand up to a bit of stick should something need a bit of quot;gentle persuasion quot; with a hammer.
Cheers
